One of the best things about visiting Downeast Maine is hunting for bargains at Marden’s, the L.L. Bean Outlet and Reny’s. All three stores are located in Ellsworth. Marden’s is a deep discount outlet store and the great finds are all about timing. This author found a DKNY winter coat for $29 and Franco Sarto heels for $1, but other times you may find nothing. Reny’s is filled with unique foods, snacks and condiments, from specialty cookies to gourmet coffees. You can also find all kinds of quality outdoor clothing and shoes. At L.L. Bean I purchased a kayak package for $500 and all kinds of clothing and shoes at deep discount. Shopping off-peak is the best time for getting amazing deals.
